Donations & Funding

We receive funding from many organizations, businesses, and individuals all year round. Without any one of these, Canterbury would not be able to employ as many people from the community. We are very grateful to our supporters.

We provide sheltered employment, training, individualized program planning, workstation adaptations, advocacy and referral, and personal care supports for individuals with a variety of disabilities. These services are partially funded by the Productive Living Board (PLB), the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), and the St. Louis Office for Developmental Disability Resources (DDR).

We rely heavily on corporate and individual donations as well. Each year, we organize fundraising events that are essential to supporting our mission and purpose. The funding we receive at these events contributes to the above services mentioned as well as helping provide financial support for employee appreciation events, new equipment and repairs, and other improvements.

#GiveSTL - Canterbury joins St. Louis’ many nonprofit organizations on this day of internet giving. Every year, St. Louisians show why we are one of the most philanthropic cities in the US by donating a little or a lot to our favorite charities.

EAT, DRINK, GIVE Restaurant Fundraiser  - Once a year in late spring, we coordinate with a local restaurant to host supporters of Canterbury for a raffle.  For the past several years, we are proud to partner with Llywelyn’s in Webster Groves. Previously on this day, the restaurant has donated a percentage of that evening’s sales to directly Canterbury. Beginning in 2016, Llywelyn’s has generously decided to donate a portion of that entire day’s sales. Great food, great drinks, great cause - a winning combination for our mission!

Did You Know?

When paying for auction items with credit cards, Canterbury must pay a fee for each swipe. So, if you attend the auction remember - cash or check is preferred!

“Caring for Canterbury’s Stars” Trivia Night & Silent Auction - Largest fundraiser of the year! This fall event takes place at IBEW Local #1 Hall in St. Louis. Tables of 8 are $200 or $25 per person. Complimentary beverages of beer, wine, soda, and water available. Participants and volunteers are welcome to bring your own food and snacks. We have mulligans available along with raffle items, attendance prizes, 50/50, Heads-or-Tails, and CASH prizes for first, second, and third place teams. The auction items we have available are donated by local businesses and individuals and have reliably included a wide variety of interests. We regularly have over 150 auction items across all price ranges. Sponsorships are available also and are popular for businesses and individuals.

Annual Appeal - Like many organizations (once a year), we send information about Canterbury to individuals who have donated in the past or were interested in donating to request that they consider doing so again.

Individual donations are accepted throughout the year - online, in person, or through the mail.  Canterbury Enterprises, Inc. is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization. As no goods or services will be provided in exchange for your donation, your gift will be tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Donors and sponsors will receive a letter of acknowledgement for this purpose.
